Dave Shapiro

Dave Shapiro ~ An urban herbalist, solar infuser of massage oils, tracker, writer, prankster, didgeridoo player, naturalistorian, and papa, Dave has lived and grown in Portland, OR since 1999. An avid appreciator of taoism and the power of place, Dave has been a student of nature since he can rememeber. Dave has developed a knack for fun in the woods and part of that fun has been eating wild foods and getting to know the intimate details of landscape through its species. As a medicine maker, Dave has come to know the plants of his region very well. As a tracker he has studied the animals and their habitats and ways. Through his practice he has come to know awareness and the lay of the land. As a prankster, Dave has come to love the peak experience of a magical good dance party in the woods. As a writer, he has fun with words and is actively traveling time through his Columbiana trillogy. As a solar infuser of plants and oils, he's out to spread the love of nature. A student of native stories and culture, Dave has paid attention to the earth through the ways in which people before our time interacted with and cultivated the foods that they ate. As a didge playing papa, he lives in Portland where he conducts The Medicine Club, a weekly discussion study on plant medicine and herbal alchemy.
