Joan Borysenko

Joan Borysenko, Ph.D. (aka Her Rocky Mountain Highness) is a distinguished pioneer in integrative medicine and a world-renowned expert in the mind/body connection. Her work has been foundational in an international health-care revolution that honors spiritual dimensions, intention and meaning of life, as an integral part of health and healing.
Dr. Borysenko earned her MD from Harvard Medical School, where she completed post-doctoral training in cancer cell biology. After the death of her father from cancer, she became more interested in the person with the illness than in the disease itself, and pursued a second postdoctoral fellowship, this time in the new field of behavioral medicine. Working with Herbert Benson, M.D., who first identified the relaxation response she completed another post-doctoral fellowship in psychoneuroimmunology.
A New York Times bestselling author, her most recent books address the tumultuous times we live in. “It’s Not the End of the World: Developing Resilience in Times of Change”, and her newly released “Fried: Why You Burn Out and How to Revive” take the reader beyond survival to an empowered, authentic life. As a blogger and writer her work has appeared in the Huffington Post, and newspapers as varied as The Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal. Her brilliance, humor, and authenticity—in combination with the latest research—make her a compelling writer and an eloquent and inspiring speaker. From hospitals to hospices, from theaters to conference venues, and from boardrooms to houses of worship, she is a credible bridge between faith and reason.
