Chris Chandler

The highways that grid America’s urban back alleys, suburban parking lots, and fruited plains hold secret sagas beneath their white lines. They cannot be googled or found on basic cable. The history channel is taciturn for the roar of the open road is its own language - - not easily comprehended by those who get their information from a flat screen that might as well be heralding a flat earth. It is a language that is more easily understood by a few truck drivers, troubadours, and traveling salesmen - - hitchhikers, carneys and fugitives - - drifters, grifters and campaigning candidates. Chris Chandler is fluent in that language.
He brings these stories of an America that has been lost in our modern sea of bad news, shocking tales and graphic reenactment to the stage.
His tales squeeze inspiration from the road and the American history it intersects. They are far too poetic to just be short stories and too filled with facts to be poetry.
They are too funny to be merely performance and too poignant to be stand up comedy.
Not only will you scratch your head and say, “I didn’t know that,” you will feel the surface being scratched revealing your own core as you say, “I can do something about that.”
A program featuring his unique blend of folk music and folk tales will wow a diverse array of audiences. From college class rooms to community centers - - national festivals to small town block parties - - this is the one show that will leave your audience simply inspired.
